How to look after your children’s shoes
Have shoes professionally fitted so they fit perfectly.
Shoes that are too small stretch over the sole from extra pressure in the toe and heel. Shoes that are too narrow are pushed out sideways in the ball area. Shoes that are too long bend in the wrong places and this can lead to excess creasing and splitting of the upper leather. If the shoe is fitted correctly none of this will happen.
Remember to clean your shoes regularly.
Wet shoes should dry naturally and slowly
Do not dry wet shoes near a heat source (radiator, fire, etc) as this will cause the leather to crack. Stuff the wet shoes with newspaper. Depending on how wet they are, perhaps changing the newspaper regularly would be advised. They should ideally be left for 48 hours before wearing again.
